Jennifer Downing, Longarm Quilt Artist

I grew up in a family of professional artists (woodcarvers, painters and textile) and have been working with fabric since the mid-1970's. My first attempt at piecing a quilt began with challenging diamond-patterned blocks in 1984. While I made some mistakes in the beginning, I learned from them and have never looked back!

I have perfected my piecing skills to complete feathered stars, challenging paper-pieced quilts and other quilting techniques. Early on, I machine quilted my quilt tops on my domestic sewing machine. I have expanded my skills to include longarm quilting, which is now the main service I offer from my studio.

I have had the opportunity to work with several brands of longarm quilting machines, and currently provide my services using a Proto Stitch Wizard.

I attend several workshops and professional shows each year to refine my quilting skills. I also meet regularly with regional longarm quilters to learn and discuss new techniques in the field.

My love of quilting is further enhanced by knowing that I am helping others to finally finish their beautiful quilts. If you would like to meet me to discuss what I can do to make your quilt the best it can be, please feel free to contact me.
